  RFID radio frequency identification system

The logo is generally fixed on the tracking and identification objects, such as pallets, shelves, trolleys, and containers. A certain byte of data can be stored in the logo to record the important information of the identification object. When the identification moves with the identification object, the identification becomes a mobile data carrier. Taking the application of RFID in a computer assembly line as an example, the identification can record the type of the chassis (vertical or horizontal), the required accessories and models (motherboard, hard disk, CD-ROM, etc.), the process to be completed, etc. For another example, in the application of automatic sorting and tracking of postal packages, the origin, destination, route and other information of the postal package can be stored in the identifier.

The function of the antenna is to read data from the logo or write data to the logo through wireless electromagnetic waves. Antennas are of different shapes and sizes. The large ones can be used as doors or passages for the exit of the warehouse, and the small ones can be as small as 1mm.

The controller is used to control the data communication between the antenna and PLC or PC, and some controllers also have digital input and output, which can be directly used for control. The controller and the antenna are collectively called the reader.

The PLC or PC completes the corresponding process control according to the data in the identification captured by the reader, or performs data analysis, display and storage.

This paper takes the 13.56MHz passive RFID reader LRP830 of the representative American EMS (Escort Memory Systems) company as an example, and introduces the serial communication between PLC and PC and RFID reader to obtain identification data for use in The specific implementation method of control or data processing.

Command Set and Serial Communication Protocol of RFID Radio Frequency Identification Reader

Taking the LRP830 reader as an example, LRP830 is one of the EMS13.56MHz passive series of RF readers. Its logo and antenna can work normally in underwater or high-temperature corrosive environments, and can read and write 99 logos at a time. The maximum reading and writing distance is 63.5cm. It has two serial ports, one DeviceNet interface, 4 DI isolated inputs, 4 DI isolated outputs, protection class IP66, NEMA4 package, which is very suitable for application in industrial automation.

The serial ports on the LRP830 reader are combined, and two serial ports, COM1 and COM2, can be split out through a special cable. The two serial ports have different functions. COM1 is used as a communication port to receive commands from PLC or PC and return response data. Can be configured as RS232, RS422 or DeviceNet interface. COM2 is used to configure system parameters (such as read/write mode, baud rate, etc.) or download system upgrade programs.

The LRP830 can be used in conjunction with all EMS FastTrackTM series passive tags, each tag can store 48 bytes of data, and an additional 8 bytes are used to store a read-only unique serial number (by the manufacturer before leaving the factory). set up).
