In recent years, with the rapid development of various industries, various high-tech information methods such as intelligent manufacturing have appeared. RFID equipment has attracted much attention, and the development prospects of RFID, such as non-contact, automatic collection and identification, and long-distance reading, have also been optimistic about the development prospects of various industries. There are more and more RFID options. How to choose the right RFID reader device according to the needs? RFID readers can be divided into low-frequency readers, high-frequency readers, ultra-high-frequency readers, dual-frequency readers, 433MHz active readers, 2.4G active readers, etc. from the radio frequency. So let's take a look at how to choose the right RFID reader? These details must be seen when purchasing RFID reader equipment!

When purchasing a read-write device, in addition to understanding the requirements of the deployed RFID system for the reader, it is also necessary to understand the characteristics of the reader. The model of the reader should be determined according to the functional purpose that needs to be achieved and the location of the RFID reader. Choosing the right reader is critical to the successful implementation of other tasks. If the reader purchase strategy is selected reasonably, the effect of getting twice the result with half the effort can be achieved.

With the increase of processed data, the number of readers with multiple functions used by end users is also increasing. Some readers can not only filter data but also store data. For example, when a labelled pallet passes through the reader, due to the crowded site, the reader must read the tag information more than once, but the reader only inputs the tag ID number to the inventory management system once. There are also some readers with the function of executing filtering commands by running application software. For example, some retailers have readers with sound and light alarms in the receiving area. If the readers read the labels on the goods just purchased Information, but these goods are not on the sales shelf, the reader will alarm, and the clerk will immediately put the goods on the sales shelf after hearing the alarm.

According to the choice of frequency band, for example, the working frequency of UHF tags is 860~960MHz. Because of their long reading distance, they are widely used in the supply chain. However, since the working frequency of the high frequency (HF) tag is 13.56M Hz, the working performance is better in a short distance. Therefore, when buying a reader, you should also consider whether you need to buy a dual-frequency reader. If you want to read both HF tag information and UHF tag information, then you need to consider whether to buy two readers for HF and UHF bands, or only one dual-frequency reader. Although many reader manufacturers only produce single-band readers, it is not difficult for us to buy dual-band readers. Since most of the supply chain application software works under UHF frequency, UHF readers should be the main way to purchase readers, and HF readers should be purchased when necessary. This is because it is cheaper to buy a single frequency reader than a mixed frequency reader.

According to the application environment, choose fixed readers and generally install them in places with a large amount of goods circulation. Many fixed readers are installed in metal boxes and can be installed on the wall. These readers either have internal antennas or do not have them. The antenna has a socket for external antenna access. To prevent damage, fixed antennas are generally encapsulated by plastic or metal products. The reader and antenna installed in the box can be protected from forklift damage and dust pollution. The reader manufacturer has also produced a reader specifically used on forklifts. There is no doubt that various readers have expanded the application range of RFID.

Among them, we need to consider what type of antenna is installed on the fixed reader and the number of installed antennas. The fixed reader has either an internal antenna or multiple antenna interfaces for installing external antennas. Readers with different forms of antennas can be used universally. The advantage of a fixed reader with an internal antenna is that it is easy to install, and the signal is less attenuated during transmission from the reader to the antenna. However, under the same circumstances, the number of internal antenna readers is more than the number of external antenna readers. In addition, the fixed reader/writer is connected with input and output devices, and the function of these devices is to control or accept the control of the reader/writer. For example, when the RFID electronic tag enters the working area of the reader, the electronic eye is turned on and controls the reader to enter the working state.

One of the benefits that RFID brings to people is that it reduces the number of people engaged in label scanning. Generally speaking, users use portable readers because they are cheaper. There are two main forms of portable readers. One is an RFID reader that takes into account barcode scanning. This reader can scan barcodes and read electronic tags. There is also an RFID reader installed on a PC card, which is embedded in the wireless network card slot of a laptop or palmtop computer. Many newly installed fixed readers are connected to the local area network or wide area network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi. The portable reader/writer downloads data to the PC via wired or wireless means.

With the continuous development of RFID equipment, more and more new functions of RFID equipment will be presented. RFID readers will also move towards multi-function, multi-standard compatibility, multi-band compatibility, miniaturization, multiple data interfaces, and convenience. The development of modular, multi-smart antenna ports, embedded and modular. RFID radio frequency identification technology is of great significance in the development of the Internet of Things. With the further maturity of RFID equipment and the further reduction of costs, RFID equipment has begun to be gradually applied to all walks of life.
