"Radio frequency" is translated into "radio frequency" in English, which is what we call radio frequency. Then the RFID technology, as its name implies, uses electromagnetic induction, radio waves or microwaves for two-way communication in a non-contact manner to achieve the purpose of identification, and data exchange can also be carried out.

It is a kind of short-distance communication technology, which is the same as the familiar WLAN, Bluetooth, infrared technology, ZIGBEE, UWB. The biggest difference between RFID technology and these technologies is that it works passively, in other words, it uses reflection capabilities to communicate.

In the RFID communication system, the most basic part is the reader and the electronic tag. The information that needs to be identified is stored in an electronic data carrier, which is called a transponder, that is, an electronic label. The reader recognizes and reads and writes it, so the reader is also called a reader or a card reader. Now, the most widely used RFID is the reading and writing and management of various tags.

The emergence of radio has created RFID technology, and early RFID technology is more used in large-scale specific industries and scenarios.

  1. IFF system

During World War II, in order to distinguish between enemy and ourselves fighters, the IFF (identification friend or foe) system was developed. By transmitting a radio frequency wave to the other party (the wave carrying an encryption code), when the friend machine receives it, it will decode it and send back the information, but the enemy machine cannot respond. At present, IFF is still a good choice for civil aviation to identify each other.

The full name of the AIS ship automatic identification system is the auto identification system, which is the marine version of the IFF system. With GPS, AIS can bind dynamic data such as ship position, ship speed, rate of change of course, etc. to ship’s static information such as ship’s name and call sign, draft and dangerous goods, and broadcast it to surrounding waters and base stations through VHF channels. If abnormal ships and potential hazards are found in the nearby waters, timely measures can be taken to deal with them.
